Classic. But of course, you know there are those who would disagree with you in that beer can make the ugliest of uglies appear beautiful
appear true, but genetic health is decling while appearances thanks to beer goggles improves .
i was thinking this morning that we some where along the evolutionary trail we as a species developed a superior intelligence to other species.
where will it eventually lead,,i mean the evolution of our species could take a sharp right or left turn not to mention a complete u-turn.. will we as a species ever keep progressing in our explots of technology or will we start a reversal?
will we come to a realization of some sort and see all this grasping to learn more and more as a waste of time and start a reversal in that direction of our evolution as far as intelligence goes?

human females, not unlike gorillas are attracted to alpha male types, which make up 1 out of every 22 males, give or take.
beauty determined by genetic fitness, seen by proportion and symmetry plus the genetic immunal divergance play big factors
in rational but subconscious selection.....
then came the invention of beer....
and here we are, stupid and ugly.
on my way home last night from work i ran into a prominent elder from brooklyn.
this guy is always featured at circuit assemblies and his family was presented as the model witiness family in the 80's.
well imagine my shock and surprise when i realized that this dub had just bought a lottery ticket.
sounds like trust in Allah, but tie up your camel anyway thinking
i have to tell you something.. i really find it hard getting over the idea of no new system and all that it meant to me.
to be with my children and their children forever in perfect health.. too many days it just leaves me empty.
i just wish i could shake it and enjoy life, but the idea that we just live for 70 years and die kills me.
while I was in THE BORG, I could not see life outside as having any meaning....just ending up dead seemed to zap life of any possible meaning it might contain...
but when I actually left I suddenly realized that life still had meaning but I was not at first able to explain why...but gradually it dawned on me that the meaning one finds in life is always relative to ones own contentment... you are always aware that your next move and the move of others has consequences for your happiness and that is the only meaning that exists... I also realized that if death was my ending I would not be around to care any more.
so at first I thought, well, I am now free to experiment, if I mess my life up too much I can always pull the plug... I made a pact with the universe, I would only stay as long as it was fun to stay, as soon as it got painful to the point of making it not worth living I was out... and for a while that gave me a boldness that I had not known before.
then out of curiousity I did past life regressions and now that I have experiences of what seem like past live[s] I am not so sure about death being the end. which is enough to keep me from being too reckless and throwing away a perfectly good body on any stupid extremes.
lately on this board there has been a couple of threads that show how much the watchtower is being effected by the open communication of the internet and web sites like this one.
they are changing long time policy and trying new ways of getting their religious product to the market.
no longer do their leaders hear the voice of god and then pass it directly on as unwavering guidance to their customers.
if the leadership woke up one day and realized it was all BS.... do you think they could simply walk away from such an empire?
i have read a lot of books about spirituality, religion and self-awareness.
the one major problem i have with christianity (and despite the fact that people may suggest that i am just turned off by being raised as a jw.... i think that my point would be valid without having experienced that negative start to life).. the one common premise of christianity is that we are sinners at birth and that we need salvation, otherwise we are disrespecting god.
i have also read other books that use the premise at the exact opposite end of the spectrum...... namely that we are perfect at birth and that we, through choice, use prejudisms and negative thought patterns that end up making this "sinner" theory more believable.. i'm not suggesting that either of these theories is absolutley correct, but i choose to lean more towards the "perfect at birth" theory.
1. I am no longer CONviNcED that Jesus existed.
2. the premise is that we are sinners by inheritance which is false in oh so many ways.
a. Sin means missing the mark and if there is an all knowing god, no one has EVER done a single thing that was other than that divine foreknowledge knew in advance.... so no one can miss that mark.
b. Sin means violating the law of God.
1. if God knew everyone and everything inadvance, it nothing but insanity to demand anyone to follow what is already foreordained not to be true.
2. if God is not all knowing, then his laws are arbitrary and made in ignorance and his demanding anyone to follow them is just bullying and dictatorial no different from Hilter or any other mad man.
c. the premise that death resulted from sin is a lie as many on this board have already pointed out...Adam did not DIE because of sin, he was never told eternal life was in the mix nor did his death result from anything but old age...very old age. he was prevented from ARTIFICIALLY extending his life which is an entirely different matter.
3. the concept that reality is flawed comes from ignorance of reality and comparing reality to false ideals which are imagined as superior.
a. once every moment of reality is accepted as real without comparison to any thing it is not, there is no more need of any savior as there is nothing but reality going on and nothing to be saved from.
was speaking to my karate teacher last week and we were talking about the different tales of "giants", "nephilim", "annunaki" and he mentioned zecharia sitchin and his books, then proceeded at this week's class to lend me 'the wars of gods and men.
' first scan of the book, and boy is this way out... anybody here read any of his works?
thoughts about his work?
after reading just a few paragraphs of Genesis revisited I could see how he was desperately trying to shoe horn his fantasies into the bible story instead of using the bible to support his thesis....
secondly I went to some of his supposed sources and for the life of my could not conceive of any race of mankind chroniciling science or science fiction stories in the metaphors of sex.... how this guy reads sumerian porn and comes up with planets and aliens mystifiies me.
a couple of weeks ago my husband and i had a conversation, and it made me think that even before we started dating i was comfortable with the fact that he had a strong connection with the spiritual.
he takes it (if that?s the right expression) a bit further than most people though.
he has told me that he believes in ghosts, elves, faeries (?the little people silly), santa claus, the easter bunny, the loch ness monster, atlantis, astral projection, alien abductions, zeus, athena, telekinesis, voodoo, santa ria, astrology, reiki, and communicating with aliens that reside on the pleiades.
there is a major distinction between holding a belief and claiming to KNOW it is TRUE.... you can believe anything without claiming to KNOW you are right....
every move is gamble to some degree and even wrong moves can become winning moves at times... you can win for all the wrong reasons
i remember, it seems, years ago the society inc. taught that meditating allowed satan into your mind.
yoga was bad!
i learned after a fall in '92, with the help of a bio feedback dr., that with meditation i could adjust my body temperature, heart rate and blood pressure.
seems to me the only meditation that JWs and others of their kind advocate is not much different from self hypontic techniques... playing "spiritua" messages over and over again until they are emotionally designated as TRUTHS.
zen meditation, in contrast, tells one to ignore all beliefs and comparisons that arise in the mind and just pay attention to the experience as it happens... rather than be open to demonic influences, zen tells people to treat anything mystical as a hinderance to acheiving pure awareness.
like computer viruses, successful mind viruses will tend to be hard for their victims to detect.
accepting that a virus might be difficult to detect in your own mind, what tell-tale signs might you look out for?
i shall answer by imaging how a medical textbook might describe the typical symptoms of a sufferer
so many responses.... hmmmm, did I get to close to home for too many?
